On December 3,
Interior Design magazine announced the winners of its 2009 Design Awards during a gala celebration at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Sixty-five categories in products and projects were recognized.
Best of Year Product Design contendees were selected by interior designers and architects via an online vote, with winners determined by a panel of architects and designers.
Best of Year Project Design honorees were selected by Interior Design editor-in-chief Cindy Allen and a jury of design luminaries.
Product categories included bath fixtures and fittings, textiles, carpet and floor coverings, window treatments and more. Project categories included retail, residential, budget, hospitality, healthcare, office space and many others.
Winner of the Spa and Fitness category was Moneo Brock Studio for their Thermal Baths complex at Panticosa, which are situated in the Pyranees of Aragon's Valle del Tena.
Portions of the baths structure are built into the side of a mountain.
The complex includes interior and exterior heated pools, saunas, turkish baths, cold baths, ice baths, showers, foot baths, relaxation areas and juice bars. Gorgeous!
